Up for breakfast and realised that when Paul had asked us if we wanted things from a long verbal list, I had said yes to everything in the hope he would finally get to bacon and eggs, which he never did.  However, he supplied absolutely everything I had asked for, which was a LOT.  No matter, we nibbled at bits and fled.

Screaming kids made it a fair trade.

 

It was a wet, wet day very sadly.  Long motorway stretch split up by a visit to the amazing Chateau Chambord,  Massive French show of wealth in a mossie ridden swamp, but now a true wonder of the world.  Wandered round the Chateau and had a nice spot of lunch.

Then back on the road to the next Chateau Sara had booked, as we drove, using the amazing Bookings.com.

I'm driving using the equally amazing Google Maps GPS system which took us down some truly weird roads.  At one point we were literally driving along a single lane cart track!  I love it as some of the routes it picks are totally off the wall.  You would never in a million years go down some of these roads, but when you do you see things you wouldn't by sticking to the main routes.  I am not sure what setting I have my phone GPS on - it must be 'interesting route please'.

The Chateau de Artingny was stunning.  Definitely no shabby chic this time, proper five star!  Overlooking the Loire and in stunning gardens.  Massive hall, upgraded room and a massive dining room for basically just us two for a second proper dinner.  Must drop the standards soon or we will run out of cash by the end of the first week!

Lovely dinner.  Sara was starving so wanted to go through the card.  I wasn't, and the card would have cost E300.  We settled on Sara eating all the nuts that came with her Grey Goose (E25) and one course and bed.  Result!
